Due to the overall economy, I have noticed huge increases in distress becoming much more common place within our culture. People, who are ordinarily employed, are now in need of such services as food banks, food stamps, meals on wheels and so on.
Today, I met a man and his family who have always maintained a comfortable living up to about 4 months ago. He was the soul provider for his family and lived in an upscale middle class community. When approaching his family I noticed a tremendous denial, in fact almost shame regarding their situation. It has been difficult to help these people because we, as a society don’t know how to ask for help when we need it.
The property is a two story home, assessed at $345,000.00 with a debt of approximately $205,000.00. I have contacted the lender to suggest, a possible forbearance agreement if the borrower can prove his ability to make the payment.
I am certain that he has almost given up on creating a solution and will likely just let his property go to a foreclosure sale that is scheduled in two weeks. I can’t understand why a community doesn’t pull together and offer this man an opportunity to resolve his issues by employing him. I have been able to get them to utilize some of the services to ensure his family is at least eating and basic services are being provided. I will share the outcome of this property with you in two weeks.

It is sad the state of the economy, it is good to know that there are people out there making a difference.
